I don’t care if it’s “too much information,” my Maggie has gone
#2 in the potty three times this week!
This is cause for celebration! I’ve
never been so happy to see poop before! We still have some accidents, but she has at least overcome her fear.
My big girl. I didn't think anyone wanted to literally see her "big" accomplishment
This has been another week of sickness and doctors. Evie had her checkup on Tuesday, and we took
Maggie also because her breathing was getting really labored. Evie is now 19 lb 5 oz, and 28" tall (97th percentile for everything). She is right where she should be. The doctor expressed some concern about the
flat spot on her head, and so we’re going to
see a specialist in a couple weeks. In
the meantime, we’re trying to avoid laying her on her back as much as possible.
Oh you!
Waiting for doctor
Maggie was diagnosed with bronchitis, so she got a bunch of meds and a
breathing treatment. The stuff worked
great! She was back to normal in two
days! Jamie is still recovering from bronchitis, with a lot of chest pain.
Took the treatment like a pro
Multi-tasking at home
This weekend we had the Odglen's over for lunch and Halloween fun. I planned to go to the Royal Oak library event, but mom-brain caused me to get the time wrong... doh! We went to downtown Clawson instead to get candy from the businesses. It was kind of random, but the kids had fun, and the weather was nice and crisp! My nephew Will makes for an adorable Wookie.
No time for poses, we need more candy!
Look out behind you, Chewy!
Will hates holding hands with adults, but gladly tagged along with his cousin
Don't grow up please
Maggie loves playing with Grandma! Here's a cute video of them... my back hurts just watching it:
Evie is half a year old! These months have flown by, and our littlest girl is quickly developing her own personality and style. I love what a happy baby she is!
Evie is sleeping through the night like a champ! We usually put her down around 8 or 9pm, and she sleeps until I get her up in the morning before work. Just like with Maggie, I sing Edelweiss to Evie every night before bedtime. As soon as I'm on the third syllable, she always locks eyes with me and gives me a special smile (I like to think it is reserved just for me).
Evie is very vocal lately - loves to have a chat with whoever will listen:
Last weekend I took Maggie to Royal Oak's main fire station to see all the trucks, eat some donuts, shoot a fire hose, watch a stove fire, jump in the bounce house and splash in puddles. It was a really great event, and I loved having some one-on-one time with Maggie.

This is how the cool kids wear it

"Climbing trees" on our way to the car
It was Spirit Week at Jamie's high school this week, so he had all his art students apply Post-Its to the vice principal's car... he's apparently not concerned with job security...
Not much has been going on around here. Jamie is on week #4 of being sick, and it's gotten to be a bit unbearable for him (and maybe me a little bit). He finally got antibiotics and is feeling a little better - hoping it continues! We've been pretty low-key, staying home when we can.
Goofing around with Grandma
All the toys.
Fun times outside
Halloween is just around the corner!
Some people go to happy hour on Fridays... this is what we do:
My happy little girl
Saturday was heartbreaking. I'll leave it at that.
We have a sitter! Not
the teenage, hormone-crazy type – but a baby that can sit on her own! Evie can sit for several minutes at a time,
as long as she is occupied with something in front of her. As soon as she puts her head up and starts
look around, down she goes!
Look what I can do!
Sometimes you have to strip down
and help your sister sit
Evie is like Maggie in several ways, but she is definitely a
more aggressive baby. She just wants to grab
everything using her death grip. I
remember my hair not being a big deal with Maggie, but Evie will just yank it
nonstop! Whenever she has a bottle, her
hands have to be busy touching everything around her. She’s very curious about the world around
her, and it’s really fun to watch.
Evie also knows exactly when she's satisfied. We could just feed Maggie non-stop if we wanted, but as soon as Evie is full, not another drop can get in her belly!
I said I'm done!
I had to take her to the doctor on Monday for an eye
infection. Nothing too serious, and the
drops are helping it clear up. She was
18 lb 11 oz though! She just skipped
over 6-month clothes and is now in 9-months.
I think Maggie was the same because I don’t have many 6-month outfits
from her!
Play time
We went to the Yates Cider Mill on Saturday with the
girls. It was a yucky, chilly day, but
that worked in our favor – it wasn’t busy at all! Maggie got to ride on a pony for her first
time, and I think it was the best moment of her life so far. She was so thrilled, not nervous at all! It was all very cute until the ride was over…
there was some wailing and gnashing of teeth. Luckily, we had cinnamon sugar donuts to distract her (seriously,
the yummiest donuts I’ve had in a while)!
First pony ride!
Maggie was too nervous to feed the goats,
so she supervised Jamie
Evie all cozy and comfy
Hot cider and donuts = fall
Having another donut at home, why not!
Jamie had Friday off, so he took the girls to the zoo. I think it was pretty stressful, but Maggie had fun!
Onward, froggy!
Eating a burger
A few more:
Causing mischief in the morning
Such satisfaction in seeing all her jewels
Chillin' in Evie's crib
Here's a video of Maggie playing with her new Doc McStuffins characters... I believe she is trying to force someone to get a check-up. At one point, she put one of the toys to bed, sang it a lullabye, then said she had to go feed a bottle to another toy on the couch. It's really cute to watch her imitate life.
Here's Maggie all wound up after dinner. She loves having Evie for an audience - she's good for an easy laugh!
