10 Months (a little late)

Evie is 10 months (and a little more)!  Our little girl is constantly on the move... though isn't getting anywhere yet.  She is so close to crawling and pulling herself up, but not quite yet!  She refers to me as "ma" and we're still working on Daddy's name.  She loves most foods and seems be tired of the bottle (you and me both, kid).  Puffs are by far her favorite snack, and she's mastered the skill of popping them in her mouth!

I'm ready for my closeup

Here's Maggie at 10 months.... maybe
they're sisters
Here's Evie getting sooo close to crawling:

Jamie took the girls to visit Grandma and Grandpa on his snow day last week.  Here they are napping, so adorable:

I put Evie's hair in pigtails for the first time this week, and I think this will be her permanent hairdo for the next year.

Mike Wizowski!

Tonight at dinner I was making small-talk with Maggie, just telling her about my work day.  She asked, "did you win?" when I told her I had a good day at work.  She also said that I could only win at work if I put my hair up and if she, Evie and Grammer cheer me on.  So Maggie apparently thinks I am a world-class sprinter.  Please stop laughing.

Hair up.  Winning at life.

Not much else going on in our house right now.  Evie had a weird fever-cold thing last week, and now Maggie and Jamie have it too.  I'm so ready for summer.  Here's some oddball photos:

Sparkling Whites

Maggie had her first check-up at the dentist on Saturday.  I was worried that it would be a big ordeal, but Maggie was totally cool about everything.  She had no problem opening up for the hygienist and giggled while her teeth were “tickled.”  I was so grateful to have a hygienist that was very patient, kid-friendly, and took the time to show all the different tools to Maggie.  Success!

Say "ah"

My little Evie is all over the place since she stopped wearing the helmet.  She lunges after everything, and we really have to watch her carefully.  I would say we average one major head bump every day – this is not good!

I just laugh it off, Mama

Evie was sick and cranky all weekend, so I took Monday off work and we went to the doctor.  She has another ear infection, and is now on antibiotics.  She seems to be doing a little better, but she’s not quite back to normal yet.

Sick baby just wants to cuddle

The timing worked out nicely to drop Maggie off at Jamie’s school while I took Evie to the doctor.  Maggie had a fabulous time painting with her daddy.  She also went with him last week to work on the set for Cinderella.

All the focus.

Evie is the poor, neglected sister in the background.

Can't I make Cinder-Evie do this?

Say some prayers for my mother-in-law – she had a bad case of pneumonia and bronchitis, and was in the hospital most of last week!  She’s back home now, and is feeling better day by day.  At least once every day Maggie asks when she will get to see Grandma with Red Hair; she misses her buddy!

Here's Maggie lecturing her puppet Rexy (played by Daddy); she put him in time out for eating people:

Bye Bye Helmet!

Today Evie went to the doctor for her FINAL helmet check.  She made it all the way from 10mm difference to 2mm difference!  I am beyond happy to be done with that clunky, stinky thing!  It really wasn't that bad, but I'm thrilled to have more cuddle real estate again!

Wright and Filippis even ground out the helmet so that it would look clean (and not smell) for a keepsake.  They also handle all of Maggie's fittings for her brace, and are just an awesome company.  They really know how to take care of kids (and parents)!

How do I look?

Andy and Katie came to stay with us this weekend so they could work on the some wedding plans for the fall.  The highlight was definitely dinner at Selden Standard in Detroit – everything was absolutely perfect, and we got to try a lot of different things because we had a big group.  My parents took the girls overnight, so we even got to sleep in the next day!

Katie is one of our most tech-savvy friends, and she made this totally realistic video of Maggie doggy.  I laugh every time I watch it!

Here is Maggie trying to show off for Andy and Katie.  Maybe ballet isn't for her...

Sunday was Sarah Elizabeth’s baptism at St. Michael’s.  There were 7 little ones to keep busy during mass, and it was just so nice to see how the family has grown in just a few years.  Sarah is the chillest baby in the world, and was a complete angel the entire day.  Jamie is the very proud godfather along with Allison’s sister Kristen as the godmother.

So beautiful in the Rabine christening gown

Unfortunately, Maggie started off with a little cough on Sunday morning, and by the end of the party she had a fever and a non-stop runny nose.  The poor thing just slept all afternoon and night afterward. Thankfully she was mostly back to normal the next day.

I forgot to post last week about Maggie's trip on the school bus!  "Foley" the school bus is now feeling better (he was broken down when Jamie tried to take her for a ride), so Jamie offered to take Maggie to work during Catholic Schools Week.  The kids bus from the high school to the church, and so Maggie got to experience her first ride.  She was pretty nervous, but really enjoyed it!

This is amazing!

This is an example of how awesome my husband is - even though he has a billion things to take care of at work, and it was probably stressful trying to keep tabs on Maggie, he knew how happy she would be and it was all worth it to him.

I have the best daddy!

Afterward they had school breakfast, and Maggie got to play with some kids and wolfed down two servings of eggs!

Eggs with ketchup - that's how the classy
folks do it

Maggie also helped Jamie drop off a bunch of his students' art to an art show downtown, so she got to look around a little bit.

Sooo high!

Maggie's favorite work of art

Evie is our little chatterbox, and wants to be a part of every conversation.  She is finally starting to make syllable noises instead of just cooing... I don't think she associates "da da" with Jamie and "ma ma" with me, but I have noticed that "da da" comes out when she's goofing around, and "ma ma" only comes out when she is upset and needs some help.

It was a busy and fun weekend, time to relax!

See you next week!
