Take me out to the ball game!

This past weekend was fun and busy!  Jamie and I went to the Ypsi Beer Festival on Saturday for a bachelor / bachelorette shindig.  It was insanely hot, and I’m pretty sure I sweated out all the beer!

Melting...

On Sunday we went to Jimmy John’s Field to catch a minor league baseball game, and we brought Luke along as part of his birthday celebration!  The field is really nice, not overcrowded, and really family-friendly.  It was Pirates and Princesses day, so Maggie and Luke got to meet a bunch of characters.  Evie was just pleased to stroll around independently the whole time.  We were in the party pavilion area, so there was a lot of space to move around.  The kids got free air-brush tattoos (Luke literally stopped about 20 people to show them his pirate flag), and Jamie got a silly diamond-back frog.  Luke told every princess that he loved them, Maggie just kind of stood there awkwardly, but happy.

The playground is really cool, but definitely made for older kids.  The sign said it was designed for 5 and up; Luke totally owned it, and Maggie was able to get around parts of it.  There were lots of ropes and serious climbing challenges.  They also had a little whiffle ball baseball diamond!  Seriously, this place was awesome!

This is about all Evie could handle on the playscape

She Walks!

Evie is walking!! Huzzah!  She still prefers to crawl around, but as long as you get her started in the upright position, she can usually walk a pretty good distance!

Jamie took the girls to the zoo this week, and Grandma and Will joined the fun!  Maggie still says the horses are her favorite animal, though she seemed to enjoy the new penguin exhibit.

'Merica!

We had a fun weekend celebrating Grandpa’s birthday and America’s also!

God bless America!

Since he is the maestro of fish, we thought it would be fun to go to the aquarium at Great Lakes Crossing with Grandpa and the girls.  It was our first time, and we were pretty impressed!  Maggie really enjoyed all the exhibits, and surprisingly, Evie was really interested too!

Evie loved when the stingrays swam by

Eel!  One of my favorite parts of the exhibit

Lego Giraffe, because, why not?

Grandpa dropping some knowledge!

Can I go in?

We had a tasty dinner at the Donoghues, and Maggie stayed up until 10pm partying (I took Evie home early – she gets pretty grouchy when she’s tired)!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Hanging with Aunt Amy

First time in the sandbox - no sand in the mouth!

Sunday we had an impromptu picnic with Grammer, Pops and the Rabine clan.  We had a lovely time hanging out together.  Baby Sarah cracks me up – she crawls everywhere, body limbs do not stop her!  She and Evie were feeling each other out most of the time.

I played masses at St. Michael's this weekend, so my family came to 11:30 mass.  Maggie likes to sit next to me on the piano bench, and is very good about being quiet and still.  At one point, she snuck her head under my arm (while playing) so she could lay on my lap.  It was hard not to laugh into the mic!

Evie is still starting to walk on her own, just barely.  She will walk 3 or 4 steps between me and Jamie, but otherwise she needs to hold on to something.  In an effort to move things along, I have pretty much stopped carrying her anywhere, so she is doing a lot more walking holding onto my fingertip.

When Maggie was a baby, she used to crawl under the dining room table to... commune with nature... in a stinky way.  This past week Evie started doing the exact same thing.  Gotta have some privacy!
