Beginning to look a little like Christmas

We are decorated for Christmas!  Jamie and I spent part of the long weekend working inside and outside on Christmas decorations.  Maggie is pretty upset because we have mostly white lights on the house, and she thinks rainbow lights are "soooo much more prettier."

Maggie loved climbing on the ladder

Maggie and I went to see the Wizard of Oz on Sunday!  We grabbed pizza beforehand at one of Maggie’s favorite spots, and then headed downtown.  It was a pretty good show, and Maggie was impressed with the fog machines and when they used “strings” to fly around the stage.  The Fox was really beautiful and I think she had a great time!

She really wanted to dress up like Dorothy for the show...

The dress stayed clean!

November Wrap-Up

Happy Thanksgiving from one thankful lady!  This has been one of the best years of my life, and I couldn't be more thankful for my family, job, health... life!  We had brunch at my parents' house this morning, and are heading out for dinner in a little bit.  Trying to write quickly!

Mom and Dad's lovely brunch

I celebrated 34 years of life last Monday!  I go a delicious donut cake (this is a game changer), and some fun gifts from the family.  Maggie is going to “take me” to see the Wizard of Oz this weekend at the Fox Theater – she managed to keep it a secret for two whole weeks!

Happy Birthday to me
This past weekend, Jamie and I took a quick trip to Chicago to see Hamilton!  I am a little obsessed with the show, and didn’t think I’d get to see it for a really long time… well, we decided to splurge!   He did an incredible job planning the perfect little getaway.  Amazing!!  We stayed right downtown, did a little shopping, had a super fancy dinner and drinks, and then enjoyed the show!  I even got to see my buddy Becky from college!  There are not enough exclamation marks to express my joy – such an awesome weekend!  Special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for watching the girls, and even taking Maggie to her friend’s birthday party while we were out of town!

Brunch at Pep's

The day before Thanksgiving was "VIP" day at Maggie's school, and she ask her godmother Aunt Amy to go.  They did church, had a snack, and did a craft.  Aunt Amy agrees that Maggie's teacher is a saint!  Will and Uncle Jamie hung out at McDonald's for a while, and then came home to play with Evie for the rest of the morning.  We decided to get out Christmas decorations since Jamie and I both were off from work - the kids were vvvvvery helpful.

Poor Aunt Amy had to chill alone while Maggie sat

Aunt Amy's business is booming, and so the girls modeled a couple outfits for her in the afternoon.  They had a professional photographer, but Jamie snapped a few phone photos since we were there.

FALLing in love

Last weekend we converted Evie’s crib to a toddler bed, and she is in her glory!  Knock on wood, she just stays in bed all night until we get her in the morning.  She is so proud of being in a big-girl bed, and randomly let’s us know that “I’m a big girl” all throughout the day.  She is such a cutie-pie, I am absolutely loving this age.

She can now brush her teeth in bed!  Life goals!

This weekend we had fun playing in the leaves!

Jamie took Maggie to her first Daddy Daughter Dance this weekend.  Jamie was a little hurt that she only danced with him twice… I don’t think he understands that these dances are really just for the girls to run around like crazy with their friends all night.  Maggie had a really great time though… in fact, she accidentally lost her photo of the two of them behind her headboard the next night, and proceeded to sob uncontrollably because “that photo was really special to me.”

Have to get dessert afterward! Tradition!

This weekend we celebrated Sarah's 2nd birthday!  We love this determined and self-sufficient little girl - she's got moxie!

Happy Birthday, Sarah!

Halloween 2017

It was a cold Halloween this year, but that didn't stop us!

We went to Royal Oak's Spooktacular event on Sunday with the Donoghue side of the family.  Reese's unveiled their new candy bar at the event, so we got a lot of freebies!

Later that evening we carved our pumpkins.  Maggie did a pretty tricky one with Daddy (mostly supervising), and Evie and I worked on a simple face for hers.  Jamie did a Ghostbuster pumpkin (which didn't show up very well in my picture), and I did a pi pumpkin (because pumpkin pie is too much work).

What terrible parents let these girls outside
without coats on?!

Jamie took Evie to his school for the "safe Halloween" event that the students host.  Maggie had physical therapy on Monday, so she couldn't make it to Foley.  Luckily, the facility had a little trick-or-treat event too, and her therapist helped her take a scooter around the building to collect treats.

Ventures do not scare Evie

Tuesday we went over one of Maggie's friends' house to trick-or-treat with some buddies.  It was chilly, but she was running all over the place having fun.  Evie did not want to miss a single house, though her little legs (and lack of intensity) meant that we were always trying to run and keep up with the group!  I got some good exercise which was quickly cancelled out by eating candy!

Halloween was fun, but I'm honestly glad it's over... it's turned into a week-long thing rather than one night.  I've had enough of costumes!

Here's a video of Maggie being a teacher and teaching us the days of the week (and Evie shadowing):
