Last weekend we converted Evie’s crib to a toddler bed, and
she is in her glory! Knock on wood, she
just stays in bed all night until we get her in the morning. She is so proud of being in a big-girl bed,
and randomly let’s us know that “I’m a big girl” all throughout the day. She is such a cutie-pie, I am absolutely loving
this age.
She can now brush her teeth in bed! Life goals!

Jamie took Maggie to her first Daddy Daughter Dance this weekend. Jamie was a little hurt that she only danced with him twice…
I don’t think he understands that these dances are really just for the girls to
run around like crazy with their friends all night. Maggie had a really great time though… in
fact, she accidentally lost her photo of the two of them behind her headboard
the next night, and proceeded to sob uncontrollably because “that photo was
really special to me.”

This weekend we celebrated Sarah's 2nd birthday! We love this determined and self-sufficient little girl - she's got moxie!

It was a cold Halloween this year, but that didn't stop us!
We went to Royal Oak's Spooktacular event on Sunday with the Donoghue side of the family. Reese's unveiled their new candy bar at the event, so we got a lot of freebies!

Later that evening we carved our pumpkins. Maggie did a pretty tricky one with Daddy (mostly supervising), and Evie and I worked on a simple face for hers. Jamie did a Ghostbuster pumpkin (which didn't show up very well in my picture), and I did a pi pumpkin (because pumpkin pie is too much work).

Jamie took Evie to his school for the "safe Halloween" event that the students host. Maggie had physical therapy on Monday, so she couldn't make it to Foley. Luckily, the facility had a little trick-or-treat event too, and her therapist helped her take a scooter around the building to collect treats.

Tuesday we went over one of Maggie's friends' house to trick-or-treat with some buddies. It was chilly, but she was running all over the place having fun. Evie did not want to miss a single house, though her little legs (and lack of intensity) meant that we were always trying to run and keep up with the group! I got some good exercise which was quickly cancelled out by eating candy!

Halloween was fun, but I'm honestly glad it's over... it's turned into a week-long thing rather than one night. I've had enough of costumes!

It was a week of exhaustion at the Donoghue house. Jamie was working nonstop throughout the weekend and week to prepare for his students' film festival - an 80s themed project!

I'm in love with a ghostbuster
Maggie was sick through the weekend, so she took school off on Monday. On Wednesday she went to school, but I decided to take her to the doctor afterward because her cough sounded pretty bad. The pediatrician sent us to get x-rays at the hospital, and it looked like Maggie had the beginnings of pneumonia, so we got some antibiotics from the pharmacy and went home to start breathing treatments. Did I mention that I was super sick on Wednesday too? And that it was the day of Jamie's film fest? Luckily Grandpa was able to pick up Evie from daycare so that I could do all the medical stuff with Maggie. Ugh - worst. day. ever.

Last weekend was much better! I took the girls to see a magic show and decorate pumpkins at my parents' clubhouse. They had a really fun time, and it was nice to see them dressed up in their costumes while the weather was still nice!

Maggie got fitted for her orthodics this week to help "train her ankles to not fall out" (I believe that's the medically appropriate phraseology). They have a cute design, but are much more intrusive than I realized. Her shoes fit over-top them (barely), so it looks like I have some shoe shopping to do! She seems to do very well walking in them, and we'll work up to about eight hours a day.

Maggie had her fourth session of physical therapy this week, which means she had to be re-evaluated to check her progress. I didn't think she had changed much in a few weeks, but she actually advanced quite a bit in several categories! We've been doing a few exercises most nights, and she really likes the challenge! I'm proud of my girl, and happy to see some progress with her strength and stability. Evie also loves to exercise along with us... which means I get to exercise my patience!
Fall in Michigan can only mean one thing… cider mill visits, apples and donuts! We went to Yates this weekend. It was a drizzly lazy day, and we enjoyed a long walk on the trail with donuts (and a lot of yellow jackets - they’re so in right now).

Evie is going to be Moana for Halloween. Jamie came home with her costume this week, and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so much joy on her face before!
Jamie and I had a really fun weekend. On Saturday we volunteered at Maggie’s school
for their Octoberfest festival, and then hung out with our buddy Erin afterward…
sadly we were watching the UM / MSU game, and it was a bit melancholy for us. Aunt Amy watched the girls at our house, and
they had a really great time… both were very concerned with where she was the
next morning.

On Sunday Jamie and I went to see The National concert downtown – a really
great show, just wish I didn’t have to work the next day! The girls went to Grandma and Grandpa’s, and
got to visit the firehouse!

Maggie had her first physical therapy session this week, and
seems to enjoy the “exercise” challenges.
One of them involves reaching for Fruit Loops, so she was sold. We try to do a few strengthening exercises
each night, and Evie eagerly participates.

done at work… been a tough week, hoping it will get better... in like two
