Happy Birthday, Jamie!

We celebrated Jamie’s 32nd birthday last week (and his twin Amy also!).  He managed to grab a beer after work, and then we headed out with the Donoghue’s for dinner and cake!  It was not the most epic birthday, but he had a nice time and got some fun gifts.  He has his master’s presentation tonight, paper due next week and his art show next week – then we can really celebrate!

Happy Birthday, Amy!

What about me?  Isn't it still my birthday?

Here's Maggie sending a video message to Jamie earlier in the day:

Jamie’s students put on their spoof film festival at the Main Art Theater on Wednesday.  Grandma took the girls overnight so that I could come to his event.  He worked so hard to get everything complete, and I know he is relieved that it is over.  The kids did a really great job, and I had a fun time seeing their work.

A little dark, but congrats Foley filmers!

Evie had her 1-year well visit and is doing great!  She is now  23 lb, 12 oz and 31.5 inches tall – ranging 90% to 97% on the growth chart.  We have switched over to milk completely, woo hoo!

Chillin, waiting for the doctor

Scary thing happened yesterday – I ran upstairs for a couple minutes to put away the laundry, and left the two girls downstairs.  I put everything away and began to head downstairs only to find Evie 8 steps up!  She looked up at me, lost her balance and tumbled down the stairs.  Thankfully she was totally fine, just a little shaken up.  I was so surprised (and incredibly guilty feeling), I didn’t know she could climb like that!

Fearless

We had nice weather this weekend, so we had some fun times at the parks!  Evie is all about going down the slides, and Maggie can climb like a little monkey now!

Trying to conquer it all

I get so nervous when she climbs this part,
but she does great!

Just thinking

Enjoying the breeze

Evie is obsessed with the slide!

Fancy a game of tic-tac-toe, Mama?

Peace

Evie's 1st Birthday!

Our Evelyn Rose is 1 year old, and is a little ball of life!  She is such a happy-go-lucky girl, and has superbaby strength!  She likes eating pretty much everything and seems to be tolerating the transition to milk pretty well.   Evie is a very inquisitive kiddo, and is usually most interested in things she shouldn't touch (potty chairs, garbage cans, shoes…).  She is a very quick crawler now, and we really have to watch that the proper doors and baby gates are closed.  She also loves to sing her own compositions in the car as loud as possible.

Exactly 1 year old

We had the family over to celebrate this weekend, and were blessed with a gorgeous, sunny day (this is not usual for any event that I plan)!  The cousins all had fun at the Minnie Mouse party, and Evie seemed pleased with her cake.  I thought she would be wired all night after eating so much sugar, but my poor baby just passed out in my arms and slept through the night.

I still wanted to make sure we did something special for Evie's actual birthday on Tuesday, so I asked Grandma to work with Maggie to bake a cake, and then I frosted it with Maggie after work on Monday… Let me know if you want me to decorate a cake for your kid, I’m clearly very talented:

Bunnies and Tigers

Last weekend we celebrated Easter with the Donoghues since we were out of town on the actual day.  Maggie and Will had a great time finding eggs and opening their Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa!  Evie was still pretty sick, and was rather cranky most of the night – but she was also a sweet cuddlebug!  My days of cuddling a little baby are running out!

More chocolate...

Presents! Woo hoo!

I will point.  You can go get the eggs for me.

This past Saturday we went to the Tigers game with a bunch of friends and Jamie’s co-workers.  My cousin Donna works for the Tigers, and awesomely donated 150 tickets to the staff at Bishop Foley!   It was a very chilly day, and most people left early.  Somehow we ended up staying for the whole game; well, actually we stayed through the 8th inning, but by the time we got Maggie to walk all the way down and out of the stadium, the game was well over!

Huddling for warmth

Maggie refused to wear mittens the entire game!

So I gave her hand warmers... which she used for her eyes?

Tiger hats are so hot right now

My nieces and nephew came... and then smartly left early
to watch the Red Wings in a warm place!

Maggie and I went for haircuts together this weekend.  She patiently played on the ipad while I got my hair done – 45 minutes with no whining?!  Mom was impressed.  This was also the first haircut where she actually sat still and her hair all ended up one length!  The hairdresser blow-dried Maggie's hair, and Maggie just kept giggling nervously - adorable.

Before

After!

Afterward we went for ice cream because I was so proud of her good behavior (but mostly because I was really craving dessert), and then we went shopping to buy her birthday presents for Daddy and Evie… she told them both exactly what she picked out as soon as we got home.  Do not ever tell Maggie a secret – she simply cannot  keep information to herself!
