June Catch-Up

It's been a really crazy month... so this is bound to be a bit chaotic, out of order, and probably missing some stuff.  But I'm trying!

We were one of the lucky ones who were able to buy Taylor Swift tickets around Christmas time for the girls and us.  Once we heard that Taylor's performance alone was about 3.5 hours, we got pretty concerned that Evie would have a hard time making it through the show.  We asked, and she said she'd rather go to Frankenmuth anyways!  So we sold two tickets (for an absurd price, people are crazy!), and I took Evie and her buddy to Frankenmuth while Jamie and Maggie went to the concert.  Everyone thinks I'm crazy for not going myself, but I know we made the right call.  Jamie is way more of a concert person, and he made sure they capitalized on everything that night!  I think it was the best night of Maggie's life, and I think it was definitely one of the top nights for Evie too!

They got to meet up with Claire and Sarah before the show!

Loving her merch bag

Trading friendship bracelets is a big thing - so they got downtown
super early for parking and spent their time making a bunch of these!

The best dad

Pre-bedtime pillow fight

Singing and dancing at Lorelei's

Golf pros

These girls both found the courage to do both
water slides - kind of a big deal!

Ben finished his first year of Preschool at the Wheat Center!  Grandma was nice enough to take him to the class picnic on their last day!

One more year to go before kindergarten!

We went to a gorgeous wedding for Jamie's cousin Iman, it's been a minute since we went to one!  Very beautiful and a fun time with the fam!

La familia

Hair vs. No Hair

Cocktails on the balcony, yes!

Aww

It was Father's Day yesterday... and I failed to get a single picture of Jamie or our dads with the kids... in my defense, we were having the family party and I was a little busy.  We got Jamie a new tailgate tent thingy and a record player so he can listen to his favorite band on vinyl (eye roll, but he's psyched).  It was a nice day for a pool party!

Ha, here's the one photo I took - doesn't everyone look great?!

Ben had fun with his new friend, who also
gave him the courage to get in the pool

The school year is finished, woo hoo!  Everyone had a pretty good year, though I think Jamie was burned out more than usual by the end.  Looking forward to a more relaxed routine this summer!

The girls' school had their annual end-of-year picnic, and they had a great time!

Happy to see that hand-clap games are still a thing!

Some friends from class

Maggie got some decent height on this climb

So did Evie!

End of the school year also means the end of soccer season!  Both girls did well this year, definitely improving on their skills!  Something really clicked with Evie towards the end, and now she is one of the leaders on the field.

We love Coach Tom

Good season, Fireballs!

Friends forever

See you next fall, Unicorns!

Maggie bravely signed up to play piano at her school's talent show.  She was so anxious the day beforehand, and we were so proud of how she pushed through her fears to do this!

All the stars

Proud grandparents -
Maggie was psyched to have her own flowers!

Jamie created a project for his fashion class to sew little dinosaurs, and then the students walked over to the preschool (conveniently where Ben goes) to give them to the little ones.  Perhaps the cutest project ever.

Ben picked a pumpkin-saurus

Some of the finished ones

Maggie finished her 5k for Girls on the Run in May!  She worked hard with about 20 other girls from her school a couple times each week.  The coaches work on running endurance, but also a lot on self-confidence, kindness, support, etc.  It was a really awesome program and I hope both girls do it next year.  The race was fun, and Evie opted to come along with us for fun.  Maggie ended up walking for most of the race (I think because her friend wanted to), but we finished and had a really great time!

Ready to run!

Ben helped cheer us on!

Friends!

Oak Ridge's team

Jamie and I went to Chicago to see his favorite band, The National.  It was a quick, one-night trip (thanks for watching the kids Grandma!), but we had a fun time!

Waiting to get started!

The aforementioned vinyl

Pretty good seats!

Oh, we also had Mother's Day this past month!  We did church and brunch at my Mom's house, and then later we went to Jamie's parents' for dinner.  A nice day getting spoiled by my kids.

The one that made me a mama

This one is sooo similar to me... so she's amazing

Always gonna be my baby

Halfway decent family photo
