One Month and More!

Sweet baby Evelyn turned one month this past week!

Here's Maggie at one month...
pretty similar!

Evie currently is very skilled at laying down, pooping and sleeping!  We got our first real smiles this week, which is so awesome!  She still needs to feed in the middle of the night, but Jamie and I have worked out the schedule so we each get a decent amount of sleep.  Evie usually sleeps in between her night feedings, so we are very lucky (so far)!

I know I'm cute

We have had an extremely busy week, finally getting around to uploading all the photos.  I'm pretty impressed with how much we manage to do with a newborn - tooting my own horn, we are awesome.

Last weekend we celebrated little Tommy V's first birthday.  There were a bunch of kids there, so once Maggie warmed up, she had a blast!

So. Much. Running.

Gotta go!

Grandma's birthday was last week, so we all got together for a delicious dinner at Vinsetta Garage.

Our dear friend Brian was ordained as a Catholic priest this weekend.  It was an honor to witness his ordination.  We are so proud!

Jamie and Brian often joked that when he became a priest, he would also turn into a super-hero called "Vatican Man" (trademark pending).  VM has a direct line to the pope and changes into his superhero disguise in a confessional.  At the risk of seeming slightly sacreligious, Jamie had a cape made for Brian and also these:

Maggie and I spent some time together at the park earlier in the week while Grandma watched Evie.  It was great to have some one-on-one time with my oldest girl.  I feel like she keeps getting put on the back burner when I have the two girls by myself.  We had a great time, and she learned how to make "helicopter" leaves fly.

Am I doing this right, Mama?

My mom and I went to Great Lakes Crossing this week.  Maggie was a big handful that day, so it was a little more stressful than usual.  Once she was in the play area, she was all set!

I'm in my element!

Maggie had photo day at daycare this week, so I attempted to get her wispy bangs out of her face.  It involved a lot of whining and hairspray, and I'm doubting her hair stayed until the photo was taken.  Oh well, kids are kids!  Here is my irritated daughter before leaving the house:

I will NOT smile

Hmm, let me think about that

Trying to get Maggie to do the monkey bars:

Maggie often uses a taunting voice, saying "you can't catch me," and then trots along at a serene pace... I don't think she totally understands what it means to be chased.

Soo tired after this busy weekend!

So tired that she fell asleep mid-dance

Happy Memorial Day!
Thank you to those who serve!!

Giant Elmo and Mother's Day

Maggie has developed an imaginary friend over the past few weeks - Giant Elmo.  It is super creepy - she will walk into a room, gasp and point to a random spot and say, "Giant Elmo is hiding!"  Other times she'll tell us what Giant Elmo is doing, and refer to him as "scary."  Jamie and I have been convinced our house is haunted!  Jamie did a web search (because everything on the internet is right), and learned that it is very common for kids her age to create imaginary friends that are large versions of objects they already know.  She will often say that Giant Elmo is scared or happy or some other emotion, which is supposedly her way of expressing her own emotions...  We are trying not to give it much attention, but it's freaky sometimes!

Don't worry, I'll protect you from Giant Elmo

Early morning snuggles

Evie is getting more alert every day, and a little more fussy.  She likes her pacifier, and sleeps best when we turn on the "running water" sound - we use the same YouTube video that calmed Maggie down.  They must be sisters!

Amused

Pondering

Maybe angry?

Definitely angry

Here are the pictures taken of Evie in the hospital.  She was definitely not in the mood, so we didn't get a lot of great ones, but there are a few keepers.  If you want digital copies of any, just let me know!

We went to my parents' house to celebrate Mother's Day last Saturday.  My poor mom cooked us all brunch - not very fair to her, but much appreciated!  Maggie had a ball running around with Luke, and Evie had some snuggle time with her aunt and uncle.

Sunday I woke up with Maggie's cold - a lovely sore throat and runny nose.  Not too bad, but not exactly what I wanted for Mother's Day!  Jamie got me a fantastic gift - he knows I dread washing the windows each spring, and set up a crew to come to the house next week and clean them all!  I was totally thrilled... yup, definitely a mom.  I didn't make it to Jamie's house for dinner, so I'm lacking in pictures of the Donoghue side... I will get some soon!

Here's Maggie doing some aerobics:

Maggie often asks Daddy to "rock out" when driving in the car.  This means turn down the windows, turn up the music and start dancing!  She currently thinks Coldplay is a rock and roll band:

The Bishop Foley baseball team competed for the Catholic League Championship this morning, and got to play at Comerica Park!  Jamie got the day off work, and took Maggie to check it out.  The park was mostly empty, and she was able to roam all over the place - the poor thing was spent when she got home!  Foley won the championship, 4-2!
